Canari Games, the developers behind the critically acclaimed sci-fi platformer title Lunark, have announced a new IP under its belt, Castaway. This game offers a multitude of gameplay options, including unique weapon capabilities, and caters to players of all ages. It boasts charming pixel graphics that evoke memories of the 8-bit console era, accompanied by a captivating soundtrack that adds to its appeal.

Players will assume the role of Martin, whose spaceship has crash-landed on an uncharted island. The mishap resulted in the loss of Martin’s pet, who was subsequently captured by hostile creatures. The objective of the game is to retrieve the lost weapons and save Martin’s companion from the clutches of these creatures.

The game features two exciting mode options: Story Mode and Survivor Mode. In Story Mode, players face the challenge of defeating three formidable bosses to unlock Survivor Mode. This mode introduces players to an exhilarating 50-floor tower, with each floor presenting unique challenges. On the other hand, there is Pacifist Mode, which does not include any enemies. Meanwhile, the Unfair Mode poses a formidable challenge even for experienced players. The game caters to players of all ages, welcoming both seasoned gamers and those who are new to the genre.

Castaway introduces players to a diverse arsenal of weapons, each equipped with unique attributes. Players have the opportunity to acquire weapons such as a sword for speed, a pickaxe for power, and a grappling hook for enhanced mobility. These weapons not only serve the purpose of combat but also facilitate solving puzzles within the game’s 2D world.

Although the studio has yet to confirm the release date, Castaway is scheduled to release for PC via Steam.
