HomeBois Secure Final Spot In MSC 2024 Group Stage By Winning Wild Card
Malaysian esports organisation HomeBois clinched the final spot in the Group Stage of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Mid Season Cup (MSC) 2024. They triumphed in a gruelling Best-Of-Five (BO5) match against Entity7, joining 15 other international teams to compete for the coveted title and a share of the US$3,000,000 prize pool.
Founded by renowned esports figure Nureddy Nursal (Daddyhood), HomeBois have earned recognition for their strong performances in local and regional MLBB tournaments. Their current lineup includes rising stars Kenneth “Nets” Barro from the Philippines and Muhammad Julian “Udil” Ardiansyah from Indonesia, alongside established Malaysian players Muhammad Irfan “Sepat” bin Aujang, Muhammad Nazhan Mohd “Chibi” Nor, Mohammad Zul Hisham “Xorn” bin Mohd Noor, and Muhammad Akmal “Mal” bin Rozali.
In Group C, HomeBois will face Liquid ECHO, Team Spirit, and Twisted Minds. Their first match is set for 3 July at 2:00 PM (GMT+3) / 7:00 PM (GMT+8) against Team Spirit. Assistant Coach Jeffrey “Jeff” Manforte expressed excitement and focus for the upcoming stage, while Head Coach Khairul Azman “Pabz” bin Mohd Sharif emphasised their aim to be champions.
The Wild Card Stage of MSC 2024 set a new benchmark with 373,543 Peak Concurrent Views (PCV), surpassing the M5 World Championship Wild Card record. HomeBois featured prominently in the top matches, earning the title of the most popular team based on average viewership.
Ray Ng, Head of Esports Ecosystem at MOONTON Games, highlighted the rebranding of the MSC and its expansion beyond Southeast Asia, allowing more teams to showcase their unique identities on the global stage.
The Group Stage, running from 3 to 7 July, will feature a single round-robin BO2 match format, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Knockout Stage. The Knockout Stage, set from 10 to 14 July, will follow a BO5 format, culminating in the Grand Finals on 14 July with a BO7 format. The two lowest-ranked teams per group will be eliminated.
