By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|July 3, 2024|0 Comment
As the Hashira Training arc of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba concludes today, Crunchyroll has thrilling news for fans. They’ve secured the rights to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, an epic trilogy coming exclusively to cinemas worldwide.
Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute the trio of films worldwide, excluding select Asian territories such as Japan. While the release date is still under wraps, this three-part cinematic event will represent the final arc of the immensely popular, award-winning shonen anime series.
Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll expressed his delight by saying:
“Demon Slayer has been a phenomenal franchise, and we at Crunchyroll are delighted to have been a part of it from the beginning. We are thrilled to bring this trilogy of films to fans on the big screen. It promises to be one of the truly epic and consequential pop cultural events of our time.”
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is based on the manga series by Koyoharu Gotoge, published under SHUEISHA’s JUMP COMICS. With 23 volumes and over 150 million copies in publication, the franchise has captivated millions of fans globally since its debut in 2018. The story follows Tanjiro Kamado, a boy who joins the Demon Slayer Corps to turn his sister Nezuko back into a human after their family is attacked by demons.
The anime first premiered in April 2019 with the Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc, followed by the feature film Mugen Train in October 2020. Subsequent arcs, including the Mugen Train Arc and Entertainment District Arc, aired from 2021 through 2022. In 2023, the Swordsmith Village Arc debuted on Crunchyroll, soon after the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To the Swordsmith Village- theatrical release. In 2024, the Hashira Training Arc premiered following the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba -To Hashira Training- theatrical release. The animation is produced by ufotable.
The latest films, including Mugen Train, -To the Swordsmith Village-, and -To the Hashira Training-, have been both commercially and critically successful. Mugen Train holds the record as the highest-grossing anime movie of all time and the highest-grossing Japanese film at the global box office, earning over US$500 million. It also ranks as the second-highest-grossing anime film in U.S. box office history and boasts a 98% critic score and 99% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans can stream the series on Crunchyroll and prepare for what promises to be an unforgettable cinematic journey.
