Canari Games, the studio behind the popular sci-fi platformer Lunark, has officially announced the release date for its highly anticipated retro pixel art adventure game, Castaway.
In Castaway, players step into the shoes of Martin, a character whose spacecraft crash-lands on an unexplored island. In the aftermath of the crash, Martin’s weapons and trusty companion are taken by hostile creatures. The objective is to retrieve the lost weapons and save Martin’s pet from the clutches of these creatures.
The game offers two engaging modes: Story Mode and Survivor Mode. In Story Mode, players must overcome three challenging bosses to unlock Survivor Mode, which features a thrilling 50-floor tower with unique challenges on each level. There’s also a Pacifist Mode for those who prefer to play without enemies, while the Unfair Mode provides a tough challenge even for seasoned gamers. Castaway caters to players of all skill levels and ages.
Castaway boasts an array of diverse weapons, each with its unique abilities. Players can wield weapons like a swift sword, a powerful pickaxe, and a versatile grappling hook, not only for combat but also for solving puzzles in the game’s 2D world. Overall, this game will remind you of the good ol’ days of the Game Boy era.
Castaway is scheduled to be released on 17 August 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
