1980s Japanese Horror Game Hollow Cocoon Arrives on Switch Next Week

Have you heard about the retro Japanese horror adventure game called Hollow Cocoon? Previously released on PC via Steam last December, this self-published game by developer Nayuta Studio is now making its way to the Nintendo Switch next week, thanks to publisher Regista.
The game is set in Japan during the 1980s and follows the story of Minato Jinba, a university student living in a boarding house in the city. After receiving news about his critically ill maternal grandmother, Minato embarks on a journey to a village deep in the mountains where his mother was born. However, harbouring deep resentment towards his grandmother due to past events, Minato’s feelings are complicated as he hasn’t seen her for over a decade.
The game’s screenshots portray a serene setting, but don’t be fooled – horrific events unfold when night falls. The game’s narrative is deeply captivating and unsettling, featuring a branching storyline with four unique endings, allowing players to make choices that will determine Minato’s fate.
Hollow Cocoon offers three difficulty levels to cater to players of different skill levels. Additionally, the game includes an auto-saving mode, enabling seamless progress without manual saving.
Scheduled for release on 25 July 2024 for the Nintendo Switch, Hollow Cocoon promises a compelling and chilling gaming experience for horror enthusiasts.
