Halo TV Series Cancelled, Surprising Absolutely No One
Sad news for Halo TV show fans out there; all four of them.
Distribution house Paramount+ is not moving forward with the Halo TV series, thus cancelling the sci-fi show starring a mostly-helmetless Master Chief after two long seasons. Well, it was long for those given the task of reviewing them for work obligations.
According to sources close to us, Xbox and 343 Industries will attempt to shop the third season of the show elsewhere following the cancellation. Here is a statement regarding the cancellation from Paramount+ (via THR).
“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, along with showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for all their outstanding work.”
343 Industries, the company tasked with handling Halo, said the following:
“We deeply appreciate the millions of fans who propelled the Halo series to be a global success and we remain committed to broadening the Halo universe in different ways in the future. We are grateful to Amblin and Paramount for their partnership in bringing our expansive sci-fi universe to viewers around the world.”
The Halo TV series premiered its first season in March 2022. Reviews were mixed, and Paramount+ did not release streaming numbers for this and the second season, leading people to think that the show didn’t do well. The cancellation further cements this.
As for a Season 3? There’s always Netflix as they are arbiters of quality with shows like Unfrosted and Rebel Moon. Time will tell if there is actually a need for a third Halo TV show when 343 Industries should be worried about making a better game than the current Halo Infinite season.
