[Updated] League of Legends Worlds 2024 – Teams, Schedule & Results

Worlds 2024 is finally here! This year’s World Championship promises unforgettable moments, electrifying plays, and intense competition as the best teams from around the globe gather to battle it out for the title of world champions. With the tournament on the way, here’s everything you need to know, from match schedules to teams to results.

 

The What, When & Where

Worlds 2024 will be hosted in Europe, starting with the Play-In Stage on 25 September and culminating in the Finals on 2 November at The O2 in London. Throughout the tournament, matches will take place across various cities, including Berlin, Paris, and finally, London, where the ultimate champion will be crowned. Mark your calendars, as each stage is set to deliver thrilling esports action.

  • 25 – 29 September
    • Play-In Stage, Matches start at 8:00 PM (GMT+8)
  • 3 – 13 October
    • Swiss Stage, Matches start at 8:00 PM (GMT+8)
  • 17 October – 2 November
    • Knockout Stage, Matches start at 8:00 PM (GMT+8)

 

A New Format

The tournament’s format offers plenty of twists and turns. Worlds 2024 kicks off with the Play-In Stage, featuring eight teams in a double-elimination bracket. The winners will advance to the Swiss Stage, where they will join 12 teams already seeded based on regional performance. The Swiss Stage matches teams with similar records in a best-of-one format, with progression or elimination decided by best-of-three matches. The top eight will move on to the Knockout Stage, a single-elimination bracket leading to the grand final.

 

The Teams to Watch

This year’s competition features 20 teams representing eight regions, including top contenders from China’s LPL, Korea’s LCK, Europe’s LEC, and North America’s LCS. Teams such as Bilibili Gaming, Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, G2 Esports, and FlyQuest will compete in an intense three-stage format: the Play-In, Swiss Stage, and Knockout Stage. Each team will be vying for the coveted Summoner’s Cup and the prestigious title of world champion.

This Year’s Anthem

As is tradition, Worlds 2024 also received its own anthem and music video which debuted on 24 September. By none other than Linkin Park, “Heavy Is The Crown” continues the tradition of iconic Worlds anthems, following the footsteps of past hits by artists like Imagine Dragons, Lil Nas X, Zedd, and NewJeans. Last year’s anthem, “GODS” by NewJeans, broke records for the biggest launch in Worlds anthem history, contributing to a staggering 10 billion total streams across all platforms. As of 30 September, the music video has accumulated 34 million views in just five days.
