Ubisoft Pulls Out Assassin’s Creed Shadows From Tokyo Game Show
By Alleef Ashaari|September 25, 2024|0 Comment
Just a day or two before Tokyo Game Show 2024 begins, Ubisoft has abruptly cancelled all their plans for the event, including pulling out of everything related to Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
In a new post on Twitter/X, the company stated that the reason for that was “due to various circumstances”.
Ubisoft Japan was originally supposed to have a special live stream at TGS 2024 at 4pm GMT+8 on Thursday, 26 September 2024.
The statement reads:
“We regret to inform our community that due to various circumstances, we have decided to cancel our appearance at Tokyo Game Show 2024, including the stream scheduled for September 26 at 3 PM. We apologize for the short notice.”

The cancellation isn’t as much of a surprise, considering all of the controversy that the game has drummed up, especially in Japan.
Back in July 2024, Ubisoft issued a formal apology after using a Japanese historical re-enactment group’s flag in a piece of concept art for Assassin’s Creed Shadows without asking for permission. That’s not even mentioning all the controversy related to the inclusion of Yasuke as a protagonist in the game, and whether he’s a Samurai.
Worst case scenario; Ubisoft might even have to delay the game to deal with all this negative public perception towards the game.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows will launch for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 15 November 2024.
