Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero Surpasses 3 Million Sales In 24 Hours
By Lewis "lickety" Larcombe|October 15, 2024|0 Comment
The highly anticipated return to the Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi series, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, has made a huge impact, selling over 3 million copies worldwide within the first 24 hours of its release, according to Bandai Namco Entertainment.
The game quickly broke records on Steam, surpassing the peak player counts of all previous Dragon Ball titles. At launch, Sparking! Zero hit a peak of 122,554 concurrent players, a massive leap from the 44,303 peak set by Dragon Ball FighterZ, the previous leader. As of this article’s writing, Sparking! Zero still boasts impressive numbers, with 28,064 active players and a 24-hour peak of 83,313.
For some added perspective, Sparking! Zero outperformed even other major fighting games on Steam. Street Fighter 6 hit a peak of 70,573 players, while Mortal Kombat 1 reached 38,129.
Developed by Spike Chunsoft and published by Bandai Namco, Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero is a high-energy arena brawler that stays true to the anime’s beloved art style. This title marks the first new entry in the Budokai Tenkaichi series in over 15 years and features a massive roster of over 182 characters from across the Dragon Ball universe.
While the game is not the most in-depth title from a competitive standpoint, Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is this generation’s best Dragon Ball-themed 3D fighter complete with thrills, spills, and fanservice up the wazoo. Dragon Ball Sparking! Zero is worth the full price if you fancy going through the series’ epic battles with a fun-to-control 3D arena fighter, and also the kind who wants to make their own Goku/Beerus/Broly threeway setpiece battle.
