Silent Hill Creator’s Next Game Features A Southeast Asian Character

The next game by Silent Hill and Gravity Rush creator Keiichiro Toyama (under his new company, Bokeh Game Studio) is Slitterhead and it’s going to feature a Southeast Asian character.
Earlier today on X/Twitter, the official account for Bokeh Game Studio revealed the details for a character simply named Tri. While the bio doesn’t reveal where she’s from, the character looks like an ‘aunty’ or ‘mak cik’ from either Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei or Singapore.
Her description reads:
A housekeeper who came to Kowlong for work from abroad. She excels at all household chores, especially cooking.
With keen intuition, she claims to have a talent for noticing subtle discrepancies in people’s behavior, allowing her to learn hidden secrets.
Set in the densely cluttered streets of “Kowlong,” filled with obscurity and chaos, Slitterhead is a horror battle action-adventure game that casts players as the “Hyoki,” an entity devoid of memory and physical form. His only motive is to eradicate the monstrous beings known as “Slitterheads” crawling around the city, disguising themselves as humans.
Roaming the vibrant neon-lit cityscape, players must seek out allies among humans known as “Rarities,” infiltrate and track dangerous organizations, and engage in battles harnessing the power of blood. As the suspenseful drama unfolds, delve into the mystery behind Hyoki’s existence and the appearance of the Slitterheads.
Slitterhead will launch for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on 8 November 2024.
In other related news, Toyama previously revealed the influences and inspirations for Slitterhead, including death game genre manga and more.
