The Scary Movie reboot was announced was announced earlier this year and now fans of the franchise have even more to celebrate. The original creators behind the first two Scary Movie films have reunited to work on the upcoming Scary Movie reboot for the first time in 18 years. Yes, we’re talking about the Wayans Brothers.

Starting in 2000, the Scary Movie film franchise was originally developed by the Wayans Brothers, consisting of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans. Keenen Ivory Wayans wrote and directed the first two films. Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans wrote and starred in the first two films.

In a statement to Deadline, the Wayans Brothers said:

“We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the new Scary Movie and work with each other again. This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago. We remember people laughing in the aisles and hope to see that happen again. We look forward to working with Jonathan Glickman and his team at the new Miramax to bring these laughs to theaters, where they belong. It’s a double reunion.”

The Scary Movie film franchise is perhaps one of the most successful horror comedy parodies/satires/spoofs ever, garnering US$896 million worldwide with five entries. The Scary Movie reboot is part of Paramount Pictures’ first-look deal with Miramax. Miramax is the studio behind the franchise and Paramount Pictures is releasing worldwide.

There is currently no release date for the Scary Movie reboot yet.
