Keen Games has been on a roll with Enshrouded, consistently dropping quality-of-life updates and major content changes to keep things fresh during its Early Access phase. The developers have recently launched the fourth content update, titled Souls of the Frozen Frontier, which is considered the largest update so far. This update is filled with new features, bug fixes, and enhancements.

Launched on 5 November, the Souls of the Frozen Frontier update expands the already huge world of Embervale with a brand-new area called the Albaneve Summits. This mountain biome comes with a dynamic weather system that really makes you feel the cold. Get ready to explore snowy tundras and icy plains while taking on new quests. The Summits are also filled with new monsters and creatures, so you’ll have plenty to hunt down and gather materials to bring back to your base for crafting.

One of the coolest additions in this update is the ability to have pets and farm animals. Yep, you can now have some furry friends hanging out at your base! You can tame non-aggressive critters and safely lead them back home, where you can spoil them with treats and a cozy space. Plus, if you keep farm animals, they’ll give you resources now and then, which is a nice bonus.

But that’s not all—there are also new NPCs scattered throughout Embervale who can join you at your base. These characters can help out with crafting recipes and various other tasks. And let’s not forget about the new armour sets you can wear as you explore. To sweeten the deal, the player level cap has been raised to 35, unlocking new spells, skills, and perks to help you survive in the frosty areas of Embervale.

The Souls of the Frozen Frontier update also comes with a bunch of quality-of-life fixes, including a fix for one-handed weapons showing up incorrectly on stands and resolving some bugs related to the Underground Infestation quest. So, you can expect a smoother experience overall.
