Indie Jam Returns for 2024: What You Need To Know
Our friends at Magic Rain return with the second edition of Indie Jam, an event dedicated to celebrating the burgeoning indie game development scene in Southeast Asia. This year, they’re partnering with Xsolla Curine Academy to raise awareness for homegrown indie games, providing a fantastic platform for developers and gamers to connect and support one another.
The action kicks off a week ahead of the Indie Jam with the Student Game Jam, designed to help emerging game developers refine their skills in game creation and pitching.
This year’s Student Game Jam will begin with a pitching workshop hosted by Xsolla Curine Academy on 9th November, leading into a week-long game jam where participants can develop their ideas, and the winning team will be crowned at Indie Jam 2024 on 17th November.
The final projects will be showcased during the main event on 16th November and 17th. Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite games, and the participants will present their creations to a distinguished panel of judges from local game studios.
The ultimate winner will be decided through a combination of public votes and judges’ scores. For those interested, you can sign up here.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can also participate in industry panels & talks featuring seasoned game developers and creators. This year’s lineup will tackle various challenges facing the global gaming industry and provide valuable insights for aspiring game developers as they take their first steps in this exciting field.
And, of course, players can get hands-on experience with upcoming titles and student demos from across the region and meet the creatives behind them. Attendees are encouraged to try as many games as possible for a chance to win prizes through the Stamp Rally.
Some confirmed titles include Fallen Petal by Pergi Studio, Off Duty Detective by Closed Case Games, and the Mindslayer by Kolo Me Studio, among many others.
If you need a break between the panel talks and digital games, check out the community booths area to playtest board games designed by APU students.
The following game studios & guests will be at the event:
With over a million downloads and seven international awards under their belts, Kaigan Games (@KaiganHQ) is undoubtedly one of Southeast Asia's leading indie game developers.
