Samsung Odyssey’s Esports Hotel Review: A Gamer’s Getaway In Melaka

Alright, gamers—how many times have you heard someone say, ‘You need to go out and touch grass’? Maybe even head out of town and experience, you know, real life. But they never specify what you should actually do out there. So, why not level up your outdoor experience by checking into an esports hotel? Samsung Odyssey’s esports hotel room at the Hatten Hotel in Melaka is exactly that—a gaming sanctuary where you can technically ‘leave home’ but still game to your heart’s content. Here’s what it’s like stepping into this high-tech hideaway…

Gaming Room – The Heart of the Stay

The gaming setup is everything you’d expect from an esports experience at this level. Each of the five setups is powered by RTX 3060 GPUs and 12th Gen Intel i5 CPUs, all displayed on Samsung Odyssey G60SD monitors. Everything ran like a charm, ensuring zero lag for those high-stakes rounds.

The TODAK Throne chairs provided a comfort level that allowed for long sessions without much strain. A minor drawback? The Fantech mice were on the heavier side, which took a bit of adjustment. Though the mouse pads were decent, upgrading to larger desk mats would really make the experience feel complete.

Bedroom – Functional but Could Use Some Tweaks

The bedroom with its five beds, including two bunk beds, feels practical but slightly bare-bones in terms of tech. The mood lighting kept the gaming cave vibe consistent, but the RGB lights were so bright that they had to be turned off for sleep. A dimming option would be a game-changer here. Additionally, a Smart TV (or a Chromecast option) would’ve added more ways to relax between gaming sessions, especially for those who want some Netflix downtime.

For the practical-minded, the room could benefit from a stocked drawer of essential cables—USB to USB-C, HDMI, you name it. This would save guests from having to bring (or scramble to find) their own.

Fuel for the Night Ahead

The included breakfast buffet was solid, with the usual fare you’d expect from a 4/5-star hotel. No standout dishes, but enough variety to satisfy before diving back into the gaming room.

As with most themed experiences, the convenience snacks in the gaming room came with a premium price tag. The 24-hour 7-Eleven downstairs became my go-to for more affordable bites—essential if you’re pulling an all-nighter.

Final Verdict

For RM999, this experience feels worth it primarily for younger, die-hard gamers looking for an escape. High schoolers, college students, or anyone looking to game with friends in a unique setting will get a kick out of this place. It’s a taste of luxury gaming at a reasonable price—just remember to pack your snacks and maybe an extra cable or two.
