DC Studios Adds Two More Movies, Clayface & Dynamic Duo, With Definitive Release Dates
It’s turning out to be a big week for DC Studios. According to Deadline, the Clayface movie now has a release date of 11 September 2026. Details are scarce but it will be written by Mike Flanagan and produced by The Batman director Matt Reeves with Lynn Harris.
Flanagan has been one of the biggest talents in horror in recent years, responsible for horror hits such as Netflix horror series The Haunting of Hill House (2018), The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020), Midnight Mass (2021), The Midnight Club (2022), and The Fall Of The House of Usher (2023). Flanagan, who first pitched DC Studios on a Clayface project in 2023, tweeted in 2021 that he was “really keen to do a standalone Clayface movie as a horror/thriller/tragedy.” However, since he’s already busy with other projects such as a new The Exorcist movie and others, he probably won’t be directing the Clayface movie.
Clayface is one of Batman’s most iconic villains. His most famous origin is as a washed-up actor who turns to crime after he becomes a grotesque monster with shapeshifting abilities. However, despite having been around for decades, Clayface has never been in a live-action movie.
Meanwhile, the other movie is Dynamic Duo, which will be released on 30 June 2028. Dynamic Duo will be an animated movie focusing on the origin story of two Robins, which includes Dick Grayson AKA future Nightwing and Jason Todd AKA the future Red Hood. It will be directed by Arthur Mintz and written by Matthew Aldrich.
The current DC Studios slate is:
- SUPERMAN – July 11, 2025
- SUPERGIRL – June 26, 2026
- CLAYFACE – September 11, 2026
- THE BATMAN 2 – October 2, 2026
- DYNAMIC DUO – June 30, 2028
The Creature Commandos series on Max Malaysia officially kicked off the new DCU or DC Universe, with the upcoming Superman movie in July 2025 set to be the first live-action movie. You can read more about the rest of the planned movies and TV shows in the DCU by heading over here.
