Overwatch 2 x Avatar: The Last Airbender Crossover Is A Match Made In Gaming Heaven
By Lewis Larcombe|December 18, 2024|0 Comment
Overwatch 2’s live-service model keeps things fresh with seasonal updates, from rotating limited-time events and game modes to new Battle Pass themes and shiny cosmetics. Among its standout features are its crossover events, where beloved Overwatch characters cosplay as icons from pop culture. Past collaborations have brought us One Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop, and even Transformers. Now, with Season 14 launching in December 2024, Overwatch 2 is teaming up with Avatar: The Last Airbender—and it looks phenomenal.
Here’s everything you need to know about the inspired skins hitting the shop and Battle Pass.
Set to launch on 17 December 2024, the Avatar: The Last Airbender collaboration will bring a mix of hero skins and themed challenges, offering Battle Pass XP and rewards. Let’s dive into the Overwatch heroes embracing their inner benders—and Appa.
If any Overwatch hero embodies Aang’s peaceful, monk-like vibe, it’s Zenyatta. With his serene demeanour and signature floating pose, he’s practically an Air Nomad already. This skin nails the essence of Aang, and we’re hoping for an Air Scooter emote to complete the look.
What’s Aang without his trusty Sky Bison? Omnic tank Orisa transforms into Appa, capturing the fluffy icon’s charm. Known for rocking creature-themed skins, Orisa pulls this one off effortlessly. Here’s hoping for a soaring highlight intro to honour Appa’s airborne adventures.
Mei’s icy abilities make her a natural fit for Katara. Decked out in Southern Water Tribe attire, she channels the Waterbending master with her blue palette and snow-themed powers. This skin is an instant win, and any extras—like water-inspired effects—would only sweeten the deal.
After ages without any love, Venture finally gets their second skin, taking on Toph Beifong. Toph’s Earthbending and Venture’s underground tunnelling make this pairing a no-brainer. Here’s to hoping this skin marks a fresh wave of attention for the underappreciated hero.
Kiriko steps into the shoes of Suki, the skilled Kiyoshi Warrior. With her kunai replacing Suki’s fans and katana, the resemblance is uncanny. Both characters share a disciplined martial arts background, making this crossover skin a perfect fit.
Rounding out the lineup, Genji takes on the fiery persona of Prince Zuko. Both characters share turbulent backstories, a path to redemption, and—of course—a penchant for swords. Imagine Genji’s Dragonblade glowing in Zuko’s signature fiery orange. A missed opportunity if it doesn’t happen!
This Avatar: The Last Airbender crossover combines iconic characters and creative skin concepts, making it one of Overwatch 2’s most exciting events yet. Whether you’re here for the skins or the bonus challenges, this collaboration promises to deliver a fantastic fusion of worlds.
Mark your calendars—this event goes live on 17 December 2024. Time to bend some elements (or payloads) in style!
