Get Your Dose Of Cyberpunk And Supernatural Horror With ANNO: Mutationem

ANNO: Mutationem‘s latest trailer begins with a shot that strongly references a similar scene from the original Ghost in the Shell film. That alone assures me that the developers are passionate and cool folks.
The new trailer was revealed at ChinaJoy 2019 during Sony’s showcase. Check it out here:
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bccuhrtr4wY&w=560&h=315]Set in the near future city of Metropolis, you play as young woman who will battle against robots, cyborgs, and monsters but the story isn’t clear yet so we’ll have to wait and see what motivates the young woman to do those things.
The game seems to be a 2.5D hack-and-slash that also includes platforming and NPC interaction.
The supernatural horror element of the game comes from the SCP side of things. For those unfamiliar with the term, SCP is a fictional organisation that locates and contains entities and objects that violate natural law. It’s basically a creepypasta wiki that leans more on the scientific side.
That huge skeletal monster we see near the end of the trailer? It fits the description of a fictional creature known as SCP-682. Being a fan of SCP stories, I’m really happy to see more games incorporate them into their world.
The game is being developed by Beijing ThinkingStars Technology Development Co. and so far no release date has been announced. The only thing confirmed is that it will be released for the PS4.
