The story is in development and will be updated as we receive more information regarding the event.
Malaysia’s very own exhibition of video game industry developers and projects Level Up KL returns this year on November 2019. The conference was established to present and showcase the latest developments and going-ons of the video game industry in Malaysia and the whole Southeast Asia region.
CEO of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) Surina Shukri said that the conference is opening its doors to the public for the first time this year. Level Up KL 2019 will be held in two phases, the first intended exclusively for business attendees and the second, open to public.
“I would also like to announce that Level Up KL 2019 will be open to the public, with a regional show akin to the Tokyo Game Show and Gamescom for this region. We want Malaysia to be the regional hub for all things digital games.”
– Surina Shukri, CEO of MDEC.
The business-only attendance will be happening from 6 November to 8 November 2019 and the public can attend the exhibition from 9 November to 10 November 2019. The event will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
Surina also talked about MDEC’s MOU with the Malaysian Esports Federation which has been established to develop, promote, and accelerate the Malaysian esports ecosystem. Citing the encouraging number of esports fans in Malaysia, she believes that esports plays a big role in the video games industry.
“Roughly one quarter of Southeast Asian esports enthusiasts are from Malaysia, despite Malaysia being only about 5% of the total Southeast Asia population.”
– added Surina Shukri.
Public tickets are priced at RM10 per day and attendees will also be getting some event freebies. There will be esports tournaments held at the event plus you can test out demos of games and talk to developers. There will be also talks, seminars, and workshops and all of them are open to those who’ve bought tickets.
