Gamescom 2019: Borderlands 3 End Game Will Have Two Challenge Modes
By Burhanudin Zamri|August 20, 2019|0 Comment
During Gamescom 2019’s Opening Night Live, Borderlands 3 creative director Paul Sage (whom we’ve interviewed before) made an appearance to talk about the game’s end game content.
Any game in the looter shooter genre requires strong end game content so that players are incentivised to keep looking for better loot after the main campaign is over. Borderlands 3 will have two challenge modes that serve this purpose:
1. Circle of Slaughter
2. Proving Grounds
Making a return from the first Borderlands game, the Circle of Slaughter is a type of survival mode that pits players against waves of enemies. The longer you survive, the better rewards you’ll get.
In the first game, the Circle of Slaughter quests are split into rounds. As you progress towards higher-leveled rounds, you fight stronger enemies and gain better rewards.
Unlike Circle of Slaughter, Proving Grounds is an entirely new collection of end game quests that debuts in Borderlands 3. To begin a Proving Grounds quest, players will have to talk to an Eridian, one of the alien species in the Borderlands universe.
It’s not that straightforward though. Players will first have to discover Eridian writing and then decipher the clues to get coordinates to the locations where you can find the Eridian quest-givers. There will be 6 Proving Grounds maps with a possible seventh in the works. DLC maybe?
Aside from the main objectives, Proving Grounds also gives players additional objectives such as beating bosses within a certain time limit, suffering no deaths during the quest, and more. Complete more additional objectives, get better rewards.
Borderlands 3 will be released on 13 September 2019 for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you want to know more about the game, check out what we’ve wrote. We even got the chance to play the game for a few hours; it’s pretty awesome so far.
