Netflix Malaysia Introduces First Mobile Plan In Southeast Asia

During at event earlier today, Netflix Malaysia announced that Malaysia will be the first country in Southeast Asia to receive an exclusive mobile plan at only RM17 per month.

Not only is it the cheapest Netflix plan, but it caters to those who watch Netflix exclusively on mobile platforms like smartphones and tablets. It’s perfect for younger individuals or students who are looking for more economical packages.

According to statistics provided by Netflix, users in Malaysia already watch twice as much content on their phones as the average member.

The new Netflix Malaysia mobile plan will still have access to all Netflix movies and shows in standard definition (SD), as well as features like smart downloads and parental controls. Adaptive streaming will now allow users to watch over 6.5 hours of content on just 1GB of data, which is an impressive feat.

However, there are some restrictions, as mobile plan users won’t be able to stream Netflix on non-mobile platforms like gaming consoles (PS4, Xbox One), PCs (desktops, laptops) or TVs.

The new Netflix mobile plan at RM17 per month is already available starting today from 24 October 2019. Existing users (Basic, Standard, Premium) can also opt to downgrade their current plan to the new mobile plan.
