Borderlands 3 Steam PC Version & New Tentacle-Filled Expansion Out This March [Update]
Update (9th March): Added schedule for Steam release.
Good news, PC gamers who don’t like Epic Games Store. Borderlands 3, one of last year’s best loot-and-shoot games around, is getting a Steam release.
Crossplay between the Steam and Epic versions will be supported at launch, though I’m curious how Steam achievements are handled. As time goes by, you’ll be able to mail weapons across platforms in subsequent weeks. 2K said that all three versions (the regular and others) will be available on Steam this 13th March.
Here’s the official schedule:
Pre-orders & pre-load: 11th March
Global launch: 13th March, 10pm GMT+8
And yes, you can transfer your save files between the Steam and Epic Games Store versions. Be sure to back up your files before doing this though.
When a game is Epic Games exclusive, it usually takes a year before it appears on other PC platforms. In Borderlands 3’s case, perhaps Gearbox reworked the deal behind the scenes, or maybe it was our assumptions that led us to believe that the year-long clause applies.
We’re also getting the second expansion for the game titled Guns, Love, And Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock. Basically, the DLC’s plot is focused on Borderlands 3’s most adorable couple Jakob Wainwright and Sir Hammerlock, an alien planet with Cthulu-esque space horrors and cultists, and a return of a Borderlands 2 Vault Hunter.
Yup, Gaige the Mechromancer is back and so is her robot pal Deathtrap. Just like other Borderlands DLC, this one will add new cosmetics, Legendary gear, and new powerful Class Mods. I’m not sure what could be more powerful than Zane’s See’in Dead class mod, but I’m sure Gearbox has a ton of stuff up their sleeve.
Guns, Love, And Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock will be available on 26th March.
