Mysterious Star Wars Project Maverick Game Leaks On PSN

A mysterious new Star Wars game has apparently leaked thanks to Twitter user and data miner @PSNRelease. He discovered a listing that was created for the game titled Star Wars Project Maverick on the European PSN backend, along with a logo image and what seems to be key art.

Star Wars Project Maverick

The leaked image above curiously features Original Trilogy era X-Wings and Star Destroyers, which have led to speculations that Star Wars Project Maverick might be a spiritual successor to the classic X-Wing or Rogue Squadron space flight simulator and dogfighting games.

However, the setting looks like it could be the planet Mustafar, which is best known as the planet where the final duel between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi took place at the end of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith (as well as the place where Darth Vader’s castle is located).

According to Gematsu, further tinkling into the leaked PSN listing backend has revealed more information about Star Wars Project Maverick. Here’s what can be derived so far:

  • The content ID for the game is “EP0006-CUSA19053_00-MAVERICKBETA0001,” indicating that this will be a beta test version.
  • PlayStation VR support is listed as “no”, which means that it won’t be a VR title.
  • The Play Together parameter is listed as “5”, suggesting it supports multiplayer. (Play Together is a feature which enables you to start a game directly from the Party screen.)

For now, take all this with a grain of salt, as EA has yet to confirm or deny the existence of Star Wars Project Maverick. In the meantime, I gave Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order a rating of 9/10 in my review (which you can check out here).
