The largest contributing factor to this player count milestone is likely due to the fact that Call Of Duty Warzone is free-to-play, but Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends was also free. Therefore, the biggest reason for the player count spike is probably due to the convenient timing of its release.
Over the past several weeks, the world entered a global state of self-quarantine as more and more people have been forced to stay at home to contain the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic, with nothing to do but make the most of their free time.
It seems that a lot of people have chosen to do that by playing Call Of Duty Warzone, which is available for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. As the pandemic continues, the number of players will likely increase and boom even further.
Previously, the game already broke Apex Legends’ record of 2.5 million players after 24 hours with more than twice the number at over 6 million. In the meantime, check out our in-depth review of Call Of Duty Warzone here, and find out why it’s battle royale experience we’ve been waiting for.
