Respawn Alters Apex Legends’ Map Rotations After Negative Reactions
By Alleef AshaariVerified|April 17, 2020|0 Comment
Respawn Entertainment has updated Apex Legends with a major change to the battle royale game’s map rotation after players complained about negative effects on queue times and slowing down their ability to grind in the new Old Ways event. To fix these issues, the developer has introduced a couple of changes.
In a post on the official Apex Legends Twitter account, Respawn has confirmed that they are removing Nighttime Kings Canyon and shortening how long regular Kings Canyon will be available.
We’re hoping this will allow players the chance to keep grinding that Season 4 Battle Pass or try their skills at the new Bloodhound Town Takeover. And as a reminder, Kings Canyon is still available in Ranked if you’re wanting to jump in immediately.

As a result of these changes, players will now be able to launch into the more popular World’s Edge map more often. However, the map rotation only affects casual play, so it will affect ranked, which will still spawn the Kings Canyon map.
The Old Ways event began on 7 April 2020, giving players a choice of queuing up for duos and trios, either on the Worlds Edge or King’s Canyon maps. Respawn wanted to more focus on the new event, so they gave players more opportunities to explore the new Bloodhound Town Takeover in World’s Edge while grinding for more battle pass rewards in Kings Canyon instead.
