The Demon Slayer Movie Is Coming To Malaysian Cinemas [Update]

Originally published on 15 May 2020:

(Updated on 30 December 2020):

The fan screening for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train is slated to premiere on 9 and 10 January 2021 in selected GSC Cinemas locations in Malaysia.

Tickets will be available to purchase from 31 December 2020 at 3pm GMT+8 onwards.

If you’re not willing to spend a whopping RM150 on a single ticket (and these fan screenings do get sold out pretty fast), GSC Cinemas has promised that they will be announcing the general screening dates for the movie in the near future.

(Updated on 16 October 2020):

According to the latest trailer by GSC Cinemas, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Train is slated to premiere in Malaysian cinemas on the following dates:

  • Fan Screening: 5 December 2020 and 23 January 2021
  • General Screening Release Date: 4 February 2021

The popular anime by Ufotable is getting a movie later this year, which is great for fans who can’t wait for Season 2 to arrive. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Train will be releasing in Japanese cinemas on 16 October 2020.

In what should be exciting news for fans of the anime, GSC Cinemas has confirmed that the Demon Slayer movie is officially coming to Malaysia. However, due to the Movement Control Order amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, no release date has been announced.

The earliest possible release date for the Demon Slayer movie is probably sometime in October 2020 as well, but anime movies usually only screen in Malaysia several months after its initial Japanese premiere.

The film will pick up where Season 1 of the anime left viewers and adapt the Demon Train arc from the manga. The characters of Demon Slayer find themselves on a train that is said to have reported demon activity causing passengers to mysteriously disappear.

In the trailer, we get brief glimpses of Enmu, Tanjiro, and Inosuke, along with a few flame-fueled frames of Kyojuro Rengoku, who the gang hopes to find onboard the Infinity Train.

Meanwhile, there are also two Demon Slayer games currently in development. Chifuu Kengeki Royal is heading to Android and iOS mobile devices, while Hinokami Kepputan is coming to the PS4 sometime in 2021.
