CD Projekt Red’s Future Plans Include Triple A Game Development, Witcher 3 Next-Gen, & Vancouver Studio
CD Projekt just released a new group strategy update video, complete with company roadmaps and new plans (via Daniel Ahmad).
To summarize, CD Projekt will be focused on single-player and online experiences. This means that the multiplayer Cyberpunk 2077 add-on may be a no-go.
Though take heart: this also means that the company will be expanding the Witcher and Cyberpunk franchises in regards to games and beyond. To quote the company:
“Single-player RPGs have been, are, and will remain our priority. However, we also perceive the huge potential of both The Witcher and Cyberpunk, and we want to expand their reach to include new areas, media and content types.”
CD Projekt also acquires its close partner and support studio Digital Scapes, who worked on Cyberpunk 2077 since 2018. Digital Scapes, a development company founded by veterans of Bioware, Radical Entertainment, and Relic, will be rebranded as CD Projekt Red Vancouver, and will work closely with other CD Projekt Red operations in Warsaw, Krakow, and Wroclaw on upcoming projects.
“Digital Scapes have put in a great deal of work during the making of Cyberpunk 2077, assisting with development of the game and optimizing its various features. In addition to contributing to our projects the new team will help us perfect our technologies and will broaden our competencies in this respect.”
The company will also be working on multiple triple A games and expansions in parallel going forward.
“We want to be sure that we can work with two global brands at the same time while ensuring top quality of our products. We emphasize technological advancements and we want to set up versatile teams which combine various specializations and competencies.”
