EA’s Anthem Pushed Back to 2019

In a not so surprising development, Electronic Arts has delayed the release of the multiplayer RPG, ‘Anthem’ to 2019. This news come hot on the heels of rumors circulating last week that the game which is being developed by BioWare may be in trouble and not meet its expected 2018 release date following the disastrous Mass Effect: Andromeda.

Speaking to Wall Street Journal, EA’s Chief Financial Officer Blake Jorgensen addressed the rumor:

Denying reports that the development of the game behind schedule, Jorgensen clarified that EA intends to focus their attention to the new Battlefield game which is set for release around October, and plans to release ‘Anthem’ during more favorable, ‘quieter quarter’.

We feel that regardless of the game’s development status, releasing the game way out of the Battlefield release window is more of a strategic move, allowing undivided attention to their products.  Hopefully it’s a step in the right direction, a far cry from what they did with Titanfall 2 when they sandwiched the game between the releases of Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

What do you think? Is the game in trouble or is the delay purely a marketing decision? Comments section down below.
