You Can Now Earn Overwatch League Tokens With (Almost) Zero Effort
In a bid to bump up their (already impressive) Overwatch League viewership on Twitch, Blizzard will be rewarding everyone who watch the stream live with Overwatch League Tokens that can be used to obtain the Overwatch League hero skins in-game. As detailed by Twitch’s official blog:
“You’ll get one League Token at the end of every live map finish. And some lucky viewers will get 100 tokens for every final map they watch per match — enough to get your favorite Overwatch League team skin in the game.”
However, there’s a catch: The awards are available only in Argentina, Canada, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, New Zealand, Norway, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United Kingdom and United States. Tokens expire December 31, 2018 if not redeemed into the Overwatch game and will not be replaced.
No Malaysia or Singapore. Darn it.
Here’s to hoping that the offer to be expanded to more countries as Stage 2 progresses.
On top of that, they are also rewarding active viewers who participate in the chat, and cheering using the Bits feature. Bits is a special currency that can be bought for as little as US$10 for 1000 Bits for first time buyers.
Using this currency, viewers can cheer for their teams by spending them on a team’s Cheeremote which rewards them with that team’s exclusive Twitch emote. Also, for every 100 Bits spent on a Cheer, you’ll get a random Overwatch Hero emote to use on Twitch.
By cheering using Bits, viewers will also work together in unlocking exclusive loot once a threshold is reached. At time of writing, everyone’s pooling in Bits to unlock an exclusive Tracer skin. Â
