The Biggest Shadowverse World Tournament Is Now Open To Southeast Asians
In case you haven’t heard, publisher Cygames announced a huge worldwide tournament for its flagship digital card-flopping game Shadowverse -a.k.a the weaboo anime version of Hearthstone. The contest is called the Shadowverse World Grand Prix, and it’s now made eligible for Southeast Asian card sharks.
That’s right: Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, The Philippines, and other SEA/Oceanic territories can participate and stand a chance to win that incredibly huge US$1 million first prize reward. This inclusion was made possible by GameStart Asia organizers Eliphant; the organizer’s esports division Beast Of The East will be organizing this SEA division.
The following schedule is a list of Shadowverse tournaments leading up to the Southeast Asia and Oceanic Contenders Cup (via Geek Culture).
The Open Online tournaments have a US$1,000 prize pool (each one of them). Ditto for the Wildcard Qualifier, which is online. The World Circuit Offline tournament will feature a US$10,000 prize pool; there’s no date yet for this event.
The winners of these tournaments will be fighting each other in the Contenders Cup, which will take place at GameStart Asia on the 13th and 14th of October. Whoever wins that tournament will fly off to Japan (travel expenses paid) for the World Grand Prix tournament.
