We all love a good old-fashioned tease, eh? Director Todd Philips shared the first look of star Joaquin Phoenix as Batman’s iconic supervillain. Check it out below:
Sadly, there’s no clown makeup yet, but we do get a caption: “Arthur”. Guess his character’s name in the upcoming yet-to-be-titled film will be Arthur Fleck and will eventually be the Clown Prince of Crime in this DC universe.
The film itself will be an origin story of the Joker as he goes from struggling comedian to full-blown criminal kingpin. The film is described as a gritty character study that is also a broader cautionary tale. Other actors attached to this project include Robert De Niro, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, and Zazie Beetz.
