Telltale Games Studio Closure Saga: What Happens Next, & That Stranger Things Game

A while ago, Kakuchopurei reported the massive layoffs of Telltale Games and the company keeping 25 remaining staff members as a skeleton crew to finish up the company’s outstanding projects. So what happens next?

Turns out, a lot. Let’s put it in bullet points because there’s still hope for narrative-controlled gaming fans out there who want to see Telltale Games’ final efforts pushed out in the open:

  • Telltale Games will be courting multiple business partners to help produce the final two episodes of the Walking Dead games they created. The episodes will put to rest the story of Clementine.

  • As for the 250 folks who were laid off with no severance pay, the internet and Twitter was up in arms about it. Cory Barlog, the man responsible for leading a team to create one of this year’s best games had something to say about the matter.

  • A number of ex-Telltale Games employees were also vocal on the matter.

  • In other news, the Stranger Things game will still be produced by Netflix. “We are in the process of evaluating other options for bringing the Stranger Things universe to life in an interactive medium.”
  • Oh, and down below you’ll see how the Stranger Things game would look like; these are actual builds of the game featuring a different art style, Will and Joyce talking, and a Demigorgon(?) hide-and-seek horror sequence.
