Hearthstone Global Games: Chinese Taipei Disqualified for Cheating
The Chinese Taipei team has been disqualified from the Hearthstone Global Games tournament for cheating after being found guilty of stream sniping during their 5-4 win over Team Singapore yesterday.
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Colc_MSgIJ8&w=560&h=315]As reported by InvenGlobal, video evidence showed the Chinese Taipei team comms revealing about how they were able to find out which cards the Singaporeans do not have by following the dynamic vision tool which is specifically offered by the Hearthstone broadcast team for use of the viewers watching on the stream.
In response, Blizzard released the following statement:
“The Chinese Taipei Hearthstone Global Games (HGG) team has been disqualified from the Hearthstone Global Games competition.
Following the Chinese Taipei vs. Singapore match, the Chinese Taipei team uploaded a video of their gameplay. Upon review of the video, and after reviewing in-person statements from the players, the Hearthstone Esports team has determined that members of the Chinese Taipei team used the delayed tournament broadcast to aid them in a decision during the game. This behavior is prohibited in our tournament rules under section 7.11a. Specifically, players are prohibited from “[s]tream sniping, or any general attempt by a player to spectate his or her own match or get information from another person spectating the match.â€
Based on the timing of this disqualification, the Singapore HGG team will advance in place of the Chinese Taipei team to the playoff stage of the Hearthstone Global Games at BlizzCon.â€
The violation not only cost Chinese Taipei the match, but also any chance of appearing at BlizzCon this year.  The Singapore team consisting of “Crumpledâ€, “katsucurryâ€, “Khaiusâ€, and “Sequinox†will now advance in place of the disgraced Chinese Taipei team to BlizzCon, with a guaranteed $12,000 prize money.
