Guess Which Malaysian Game Studio Is Helping Out With The Command & Conquer Remasters?

Good news for you Command & Conquer fans out there: EA revealed that the C&C and C&C: Red Alert remasters (expansions included) will be in development by Petroglyph, a studio created by former Westwood employees. You remember Westwood, right? The one company killed off by EA after it produced a few C&C games for them.

Petroglyph guys Mike Legg, Ted Morris, and even C&C composer Frank Klepacki will be on board to make this remaster right. But what’s even more surprising is that Malaysian game asset-making studio Lemon Sky Studios will be involved in the remastering process.

They will help bring these games to 4K glory; that essentially means make HD assets of 2D sprites from the original. What else has Lemon Sky Studios done? Well, they’ve done CG & 3D characters and creatures for:

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man
  • Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
  • StarCraft Remastered (hence why they’re picked by EA)
  • Final Fantasy XIV Stormblood
  • Gears of War 4
  • Dark Souls III

..and many more of course. Malaysia boleh?

That’s Not All…

The Petroglyph guys will be changing a number of things like game balance. Producer Jim Vessella said that development starts now, which also means that there’s no set release date yet.

“The exciting part is that we haven’t started development yet. The community is literally getting in on the ground floor of this project and have every opportunity to help influence how we build this remastered experience. Please continue to engage on Reddit and community channels and help us create the best possible remasters of C&C and Red Alert!”

So if you’re a fan who wants to be heard, make yourself heard on Reddit. And don’t worry: there wouldn’t be microtransactions in this game. I know that doesn’t need to be said, but you never know what can happen when you have bigwigs like EA looking over Petroglyph’s shoulders.
