Epic Store Scores Another Exclusive in Phoenix Point

Julian Gollop, the creator of X-Com, has announced that his new game, Pheonix Point, is an Epic Games Store exclusive for its first year of release. Gollop stated that the deal meant that ‘the game can be updated and expanded for years to come’.

Based on the video, Gollop anticipates that the exclusivity won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, as they may have expected to play on a specific PC platform when they backed for it. Well, to be fair, the first two questions in the Fig campaign FAQ blatantly states that the game will be available on Steam and GOG.

Technically, the claim has some truth to it, as the game is only exclusive for a year. However, not everyone would be happy with that interpretation.

Gollop assured backers that ‘they will be very happy to offer a full refund if for any reason backers are not happy with this change’. As a reward to the backers who continue to support it or preordered it prior to today, they will get all paid year one DLCs for free.

For those with questions, keep an eye out on the Phoenix Point subreddit for an Ask Me Anything (AMA) happening on Thursday, 14 March at 3 am, local time.
