You Can Now Play The Original Warcraft And Its Sequel Via GOG.com

Blizzard‘s Warcraft franchise popularized the fantasy RTS genre, just like Diablo did for the top-down dungeon-crawling APRG genre. The original Warcraft was released more than 20 years ago but now gamers have been given the chance to revisit the legendary and classic title.

Blizzard Entertainment and GOG.com have teamed up to re-release both Warcraft: Orcs & Humans and Warcraft II Battle.net Edition, the latter of which includes the Tides of Darkness and Beyond the Dark Portal expansions.

Originally launching in 1994, Warcraft: Orcs & Humans features the first ever battle for Azeroth while Warcraft 2 (which released a year later in 1995) featured naval battles and introduced more races to both the Alliance and the Horde.

The GOG.com version of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans has been fully optimized to work on modern operating systems. For Warcraft 2, players can opt for either the updated version with support for high-resolution displays and multiplayer via LAN connections; or the authentic period-appropriate classic version that includes the original SVGA graphics and matchmaking through the classic version of Battle.net.

Warcraft: Orcs & Humans for Windows and Mac and Warcraft II Battle.net Edition for Windows are available now on GOG.com for $5.99 and $9.99, respectively. Players can also purchase the Warcraft bundle for a cheaper price and get both games for $14.99.
