The New Lion King Trailer Is Giving Us The Feels

Disney has released the first full-length official trailer for its upcoming The Lion King live-action remake, and it looks glorious. Director Jon Favreau‘s The Jungle Book must have been a test run or tech demo of some kind because the CGI wizardry on show here is leaps and bounds above anything we’ve ever seen before.

It feels like I’m watching a real-life documentary because that’s how realistic the visuals look. While most of the cast from the original animated 1994 classic has been changed, fans will be delighted to hear the legendary James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa. Listening to his narration in the trailer is giving me all the feels.

Disney’s line of live-action remakes of their beloved animated movies may have hit a road bump with last month’s Dumbo (check out our review of it here), but The Lion King will probably change that soon.

The Lion King boasts an all-star cast including Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, and more. It is slated to release on 18 July 2019.

In the meantime, check out the trailer below and relive your childhood memories.
