E3 2019: Here’s Your First Gameplay Look At Vampire: The Masquerade 2
The cult classic RPG Vampire: The Masquerade 2 is going to be a reality in Q1 2020. While you guys and gals wait while figuring out whether you want to be a Ventrue or Malkavian, here’s the official gameplay trailer.
Talking, philosophy-debating, some fighting, getting resonance out of blood so you can get short-term buffs. The more of the same type of blood you feed, the more resonance you get and thus a long-term buff to help you on your quest to be a vampire.
According to senior writer Cara Ellison (former games journalist FYI) when on stage, vampires can see the emotional resonance of beings like fear or desire. She and her team will also create narrative twists and turns like a “vampire puberty quest line” and re-enactments of bits from Interview With A Vampire.
Speaking of fighting, the game’s combat is currently in pre-alpha state, which is code for “it’s broken and clunky”. Guess we’ll have to wait a bit more to see the game get into real action, but so far the gameplay footage impresses. I’ve never been into this series of games thanks to other RPGs back then taking up my time, but I may start looking into this next year.
