Langrisser I & II HD Remakes Will Be Out Early 2020; Missing Pointy Details

Fans of 90s JRPGs and strategy RPGs should remember the Langrisser series from Japan, or Warsong for the Sega Megadrive/Genesis in the rest of the world. It combines turn-based RPG combat with fantasy anime tropes, and it was glorious.

Now you can look forward to reliving those glory days with the upcoming Langrisser I and II HD remakes courtesy of NIS America. The twofer pack will be out early 2020 for PC, Nintendo Switch, and PS4, and features the aforementioned HD graphics, re-orchestrated music, new UI and “quality of life” changes, and English subtitles.

What we won’t get is artwork from Satoshi Urushihara. Arguably, he’s the guy who made Langrisser’s world come alive and…perky. Shapely even, if I’m putting it bluntly.

Have a look-see at the previous game’s art style and gauge for yourself if the remake really needs more Satoshi and less Nagi Ryou.
