XCOM-Like Phoenix Point Delayed Yet Again

Phoenix Point, the long-awaited game by XCOM creator Julian Gollop, has been delayed for the umpteenth time yet again, according to a developer update on the Snapshot Games’ official website forum.

It was previously slated to finally release on 3 September 2019, which was already quite a delay from its initial 2018 release. The turn-based tactical strategy game will now be releasing sometime in December 2019 instead. The dev update reads:

“We know this is not our first delay, and we are very sorry to the fans who we know are highly anticipating getting their hands on Phoenix Point.

No one is more disappointed than we are, but we collectively agree that we would rather miss a launch date than ship something that does not meet our exacting standards.

We want the Phoenix Point you play to be one of your favorite games of all time, and that means we need a bit more time.”

However, backers and early-access purchasers will still be able to gain access “to a much more robust version of Phoenix Point” on 3 September 2019, which will officially be called Backer Build 5.

While Phoenix Point is an Epic Games exclusive on PC, it will also be released for the Xbox One as well (through the Xbox Game Pass, which will also be available on PC). In the meantime, check out gameplay footage from Backer Build 4 of Phoenix Point below.
