Gamescom 2019: Sega’s Humankind Looks Like A Civ Clone With A Twist

During the Gamescom 2019 Opening Night Live press conference, Sega and Amplitude Studios showed off their upcoming historical 4X turn-based strategy game, Humankind. Instead of basing your civilization on existing ones from human history like Firaxis’s iconic Civilization franchise, the twist is that players will instead create a completely unique civilization.

According to the game’s official description, this unique civilization can be built by combining any of the 60 historical cultures from the Bronze to the Modern Age, which supposedly will result in endless versions of the player’s very own civilization.

Fame is a core gameplay mechanic in Humankind, as the civilization with the highest fame will thrive. Players will need to build their civilization’s culture and military, as well as encounter people and events from history.

Humankind is slated to release for the PC sometime in 2020. In the meantime, head on over to the game’s Steam page here or check out the trailer with some awesome music below.
