Apex Legends Is Going Mobile

Launched just earlier this year in February, Apex Legends has quickly become one of the biggest games of the year. Within less than a year, the game managed to grow its player base to 70 million players. This huge success has prompted EA to make Apex Legends their main game of 2020.

One of the biggest plans that was announced in the recent EA Q2 2020 Earnings Call is bringing Apex Legends to mobile platforms. EA chief executive Andrew Wilson expressed that the company is planning to capitalise on the game’s massive success. He stated that mobile version would be available sometime in the 2021 fiscal year which begins on 1 October 2020.

“With the Apex Legends community now growing pass 70 million players, we’re focused on expanding to mobile new platforms and new geographies, as well as launching an Apex competitive gaming program that we’ll share the details on soon.”

– Andrew Wilson, EA chief executive.

Will there be cross-play between mobiles, consoles, and PC? Will there be simplified controls or sacrificed game mechanics? These are the questions most people will probably wondering when they find out about this announcement.

Aside from bringing Apex Legends to mobiles, EA is also planning to carry the game over to the next generation of home consoles, making it available on the PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Project Scarlett.
