Marvel TV Head Jeph Loeb To Leave After A Decade Of Service

Jeph Loeb will reportedly be leaving his current position of Marvel Television executive vice president and head after almost 10 years of service. According to sources close to Variety, he is looking to officially announce his exit from the company by Thanksgiving 2019, which will be on 28 November 2019.

Loeb was responsible for almost every Marvel TV series for the past decade, including Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD, the Marvel Netflix universe (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Punisher, The Defenders), Runaways, Cloak and Dagger, Legion, as well as all the animated shows.

He is also an Eisner-award-winning veteran in the comics industry, having written the iconic Batman: Hush and Batman: The Long Halloween for DC Comics, and many more at other publishers like Marvel Comics, Image Comics, and Dark Horse. Besides all that, Loeb was a writer/producer on the TV series Smallville and Lost, as well as a writer/executive producer on the TV series Heroes.

Batman Hush

News of Loeb’s upcoming departure comes shortly after it was recently announced that Kevin Feige will be the new Chief Creative Officer for Marvel Entertainment as a whole, overseeing the company’s content creation, including publishing, movies, TV and animation. This means that Loeb would have to answer to Feige, granting the latter decisive power over Marvel Television moving forward.

However, Loeb’s departure isn’t so surprising, considering how much Marvel TV has declined in the past few years. The Marvel Netflix universe is dead, with the only notable series right now being Marvel’s Agents Of SHIELD (and that’s already in its final season). All the upcoming TV series like Loki and WandaVision will be produced by Marvel Studios, instead of Marvel TV.
