#9. Sounds of Skyrim

If you’re gonna spend hours in a game, might as well make sure you’re fully immersed. SOS adds ambient sounds to every possible areas of the game. Forests, Dungeons, Towns, Taverns, you name ’em! SOS really does well to make you feel like you’re really in your Skyrim world.

I especially like the SOS for Dungeons, because it genuinely makes dungeon crawling pretty spooky.

#10. A Quality World Map

Let’s face it, the world map in Skyrim sucks! It’s cluttered, faded and just plain ugly! Like what in the world are clouds doing on my map?

As you can see, this mod completely changes that.

#11. FNIS Sexy Move

Okay, hear me out: females in Skyrim walk exactly like men. Am I the only one that found that weird?

With FNIS Sexy Move, your female character and NPCs will now walk and run with more feminine swagger. It’s a weird niche mod, but once you have it, you’ll never feel the same without it.

#12. Cooking in Skyrim

Can’t cook in real life? That’s alright, because you’ll be a culinary god in Skyrim!

Adding a wide range of foods to the game, Cooking in Skyrim gives the player a reason to go home to prepare foods. Each food, depending on how complex, give differing buffs that actually matter. Also, this gives you another reason to rob your local butcher blind.

#13. Hunterborn

Don’t feel like robbing a butcher for your fresh cuts? Go and hunt for it!

Most times players ignore the roaming wildlife, posing more trouble than they’re worth to hunt down. Hunterborn makes hunting rewarding and satisfying.

Depending on how often you hunt and skin animals, you’ll obtain varying amounts of meat, leather and even alchemical ingredients that the animal had eaten.

#14. Achieve That!

A pure and simple achievement mod, but wait, the more you achieve, the more perks you get!

With many, many achievements to get, Achieve That! will urge players to do everything in excess. There’s an achievement for pretty much anything. Amount of food eaten, the number of horses stolen, amount of gold stolen, and so forth.

Each time you achieve something, you get a perk point to permanently boost your character stats. So go ahead; Achieve That!

#15. Ultimate Follower Overhaul (UFO)

UFO allows the player to fully control and customize followers. Change their gear, their combat style, monitor their stats, train certain stats.

If you’re the type to recruit followers, this is a must-have!

#16. Recorder

Speaking of followers, Recorder is the only one I bothered to install. Recorder, yes that’s her name, is a quirky, slightly psychotic follower that may or may not have travelled through other video games before.

It’s never a dull moment with Recorder around. In combat, you’ll definitely hear her laugh like a psychopath as she cuts down her foes. She even has a whole backstory you can explore through quests.
