Capcom Reveals New Monster Hunter Game… For Mobile
By Alleef Ashaari|January 28, 2020|0 Comment
Capcom has announced yet another Monster Hunter game for (*shudder*) mobile platforms. Monster Hunter Riders is a new Monster Hunter RPG title coming to Android and iOS sometime this winter in Japan. It will be a free-to-play title with item-based in-app purchases.
According to the official website (translated via Gematsu), Monster Hunter Riders is set on the continent of Felgia, where humans and monsters live side-by-side. As the leader of the Riders Guild special agency ‘Dispatch Observation Party’, players will command both monsters and riders to solve the mystery of the evil Dark Riders.
The gameplay is similar to Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei Persona franchise, where players can gather, raise, and combine familiar monsters from the Monster Hunter franchise who will fight alongside their own unique party of Riders.
Combat is described as featuring a command battle system, which sounds like it could be turn-based. Confirmed monsters to appear include the likes of Rathalos, Zinogre, Nargacuga, and Glavenus, but more monsters will be added in future updates.
Pre-registration is now open on the Android Google Play Store and iOS App Store. The official synopsis for the game reads:
“A great calamity once attacked this land,
10 dragon rider knights, later called “The Ten Great Dragon Knights,†saved the land from the great calamity,
A new connection was formed between humans and monsters, and several hundred years passed…
But this continent of Felgia, where humans and monsters live in union, is about to once again become engulfed by a dark malice.”
However, Monster Hunter Riders isn’t the first Monster Hunter mobile game. That distinction goes to 2016/2017’s Monster Hunter Stories, which played more like Pokemon and even received an anime adaptation. In the meantime, check out the trailer below.
