Mobile game publisher and Granblue Fantasy owners Cygames revealed the sales numbers of their new spin-off fighting game, and it’s a doozy.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus sold strong numbers in Asia (Japan, Southeast Asia, etc.) with a healthy 150,000 copies on its first day in the market. For comparison’s sake, here are the first-day sales numbers for some of the recent fighting game titles:

• Street Fighter V: 42,000 (2016)
• Tekken 7: 59,000 (2017)
• Dragon Ball FighterZ: 69,000 (2018)
• Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: 1.2 million within 3 days (2018)
• Samurai Shodown: 40,000 (2019)

Essentially, Granblue Fantasy: Versus sold more than most “hardcore” fighting game titles on the list. It’ll be interesting to see how well the game does at this year’s EVO tournament and within the first 6 to 7 months after its release.

Granblue Fantasy: Versus is out now in Asia, and so far I’ve enjoyed most of it. Save for a small-yet-diverse roster, the rest of the game looks sharp, plays great, and blends the best of anime fighters and Street Fighter footsie-based combat without most of the complications from the two mechanics. I’d say buy it right now if you’re a huge fan of fighting games, whether you’re a newbie or expert.
