Resident Evil 3 Remake Demo Is Coming, More Gameplay Details Revealed

The first previews of Resident Evil 3 Remake are out, and that means more gameplay details for the upcoming game. Capcom has also announced that a Resident Evil 3 Remake demo is on its way, which is good news for any fan who can’t wait any longer.

Here’s what we know about Resident Evil 3 Remake so far:

  • Larger areas and some reimagined sequences in Raccoon City that dwarf those in the original game.
  • New shops and locations, including an expanded subway station, new labyrinthine sewer section, and a richly detailed doughnut shop.
  • City streets are wider and more open.
  • Jill has a new evade move (R1 + left stick) that lets players dodge zombies and other enemies. It’s a parry move of sorts and is much easier to execute than in the 1999 original.
  • She can also perform a Perfect Dodge by precisely pressing X as an enemy attack. Success scores you a slow-motion counter window to open fire.
  • Jill’s knife doesn’t degrade like the blades of Resident Evil 2 Remake, and it’s no longer used as a self-defence item.
  • Ammo crafting from Resident Evil 2 Remake is back.
  • Environmental traps return. For instance, players can shoot red barrels to defeat groups of zombies or shoot electrical boxes to stun nearby threats.
  • Nemesis is bigger and stronger than ever, but he can be damaged by luring him near electrical boxes or explosive barrels to save ammo.
  • Nemesis will even occasionally drop valuable supply cases when you (temporarily) defeat him, which provide high-powered ammo and coveted weapon upgrades like mods (extended magazine, laser-dot sight, silencer, etc.)
  • The Hunter Gamma lurks within the bowels of Raccoon City. Stay away from its gaping maw to stay alive. Pack flame grenade rounds and look the devil in the mouth.
  • Players can also activate Assist Mode for easier difficulty, which features regenerating health, weaker enemies, more ammo, and a powerful assault rifle (similar to the 1999 original’s Easy Mode).

The Resident Evil 3 Remake is slated to release for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on 3 April 2020. In the meantime, check out almost 15 minutes of pure gameplay footage below.
