The One Where The Friends Cast Reunite For An HBO Max Special

Guess that fabled Friends reunion is not stuck in second gear.

According to a Variety report, the cast of the 90s groundbreaking TV sitcom will be reuniting for an exclusive untitled and unscripted special on HBO Max. That means for the first time in forever, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David “best Robert Kardashian” Schwimmer will be together at Stage 24 on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank to celebrate the long-running 10-season series.

As if prolonged friendship and nostalgia isn’t enough to bring the cast together, each of the actors will be getting at least US$2.5 million each for the project. I’m sure the latter point isn’t the main reason they’re doing this.

Friends executive producers Kevin Bright, Marta Kauffman, and David Crane will be directing and producing the special alongside Ben Winston. No word on how much they’ll be paid for this though.

I’m not sure about the rest of the world, but we’re still binging on Friends via Netflix for a while now here in Malaysia and Singapore. Whether this special and the HBO Max exclusivity will affect the comedy’s Netflix streaming run remains to be seen, but we’ll find out soon enough on May.
