Final Fantasy XIV Suspends In-Game House Demolition During Coronavirus Lockdown

Square Enix is giving some of its players some slack, at least those who cannot pay their subscriptions in time.

The company will be turning off its automatic house-demolishing system in Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, which usually happens if a player lapses in his or her subscription payments. This is done in wake of the worldwide COVID-19 lockdowns, which results in many people being out of work and unable to pay in-game subscription costs. Official statement below:

“Taking into account the world-wide spread of the COVID-19 (also known as “novel coronavirus”) and the economical effects of various cities going into lock-down, we have decided to temporarily suspend automatic housing demolition.”

In such dire times, paying US$12.99 per month for an MMO may be quite a luxury. But at least you won’t have to worry about your in-game house being demolished if you’ve been lax with your payment. Just make sure your actual house and place of domicile is sorted during this period. That’s way more important.
