CD Projekt Red’s The Witcher Series Sales Surpass 50 Million

CD Projekt Red has announced that their The Witcher franchise has sold a whopping 50 million worldwide to date. The franchise began with 2007’s The Witcher, followed by 2011’s The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, but it’s undeniable that the biggest contributor is 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt alone has sold 28 million to date, which is more than half of the total 50 million. 2018 also saw the release of spin-off Gwent: The Witcher Card Game. This feat is even more impressive considering that the series only sold five million units before The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was announced in 2013.

According to GamesIndustry.biz, this number is up from the previous 40 million total sales around this time last year, which have since been bolstered by the October 2019 release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Nintendo Switch as well as the success of Netflix’s The Witcher series.
