Netflix Announces The Witcher Blood Origin Live-Action Prequel

The Witcher Season 1 was one of Netflix’s biggest exclusive shows ever. Now the streaming giant has announced a new live-action prequel set in the same universe titled The Witcher: Blood Origin.

The Witcher: Blood Origin was announced via Twitter, and it will be set a whopping 1200 years before the time of Geralt Of Rivia. It will apparently be an origin story for the entire Witcher profession as a whole, featuring the first-ever Witcher in the franchise’s lore.

The Witcher showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich will be helming the prequel series, alongside Declan de Barra. The first season will consist of six episodes, but that’s all we know for now.

Hissrich herself tweeted about the news, confirming that The Witcher creator Andrzej Sapkowski himself will be involved.

No release date or casting have been announced as of yet.
